Hua Zhang

Hua Zhang has been in education for 12 years. He joined Yu Ming in 2021, serving as a teacher for 4th, 6th and 8th grade. He began his teaching career in Bogotá, South America, and then taught at the University of Memphis and at Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN. He also worked as a Chinese teacher at Capital Normal University in Beijing and as a Chinese dual language immersion teacher at Greenville Public Schools in Michigan. Additionally, he has been a Chinese instructor in StarTalk programs and a presenter at StarTalk conferences.

Hua Zhang received his M.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Western Michigan University and his B.A. in Music Education from Capital Normal University, Beijing. He holds single subject teaching credentials in both California and Michigan. Hua Zhang is also an erhu musician and has performed erhu solo concerts many times in China, the U.S. and Colombia. He is a co-founder of Jinyin Music School in China.

In his spare time, Hua enjoys various outdoor activities such as snowboarding, biking, hiking, and climbing. He also enjoys attending live music festivals and cooking at home.
