Our Dragons are back! Students and families joyfully came together at Yu Ming’s three campuses last Wednesday for the first day of school.
Our new and returning Dragons included over 200 students in Grades K to 2 entering our Carolyn campus classrooms for the very first time in the unincorporated San Leandro community of Ashland. Students, families and staff were all excited to get started. New kindergarten parent Macy was thrilled for her daughter, and impressed at how well drop-off went for her—“especially since, with the pandemic, she didn’t get to go to preschool.”
Starting strong has been Yu Ming’s motto for this first day of school, setting consistent daily structures from the very beginning, focused on community building, communication and purposeful partnering. A core part of Yu Ming’s model is ensuring that every child has strong relationships with students, staff, and our community every day, because we know that learning only happens in tandem with connection and belonging.
