Crystal Simmons comes to Yu Ming after working as a school psychologist in a Bay Area school district. A graduate of the UC Berkeley School Psychology Program, Crystal is a licensed psychologist and a credentialed school psychologist. She has been active in creating systems of support for students including counseling enriched programs and the emotional and social development for all students. She created and managed the Mental Health Support Provider (MHSP) position in the Vallejo City Unified School District to systematically support students, provide evidence based intervention services within a multi-tiered system of support framework, social skills development, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in schools, parent and teacher consultation, and a school-wide socio-emotional learning curriculum.
In addition to her work in schools, Crystal has taught and mentored school psychologists and mental health professionals as a lecturer in the School Psychology Program at UC Berkeley and at St. Mary’s College. She has also provided training to mental health professionals in behavior progress monitoring, trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and behavioral consultation.
